Today is one of those days where I just don't know what in God's name to write about. Since committing myself to posting every day of the week (excluding weekends), I've realised just how difficult keeping a blog is. It's pretty darn hard to think of a new idea everyday, yet, not only do you have to brainstorm for a new idea, but you also need it to be unique, creative and you need to be able to write it with a little bit of flair. Otherwise, ain't nobody gonna read it! When things are good, things are good. However, there are days when the creative well runs dry, and, today is one of those days.
So, in the absence of any original topics to write about I decided that today I'd share with you one of my favourite hobbies - typography! Typography, for those of you who don't know, is the art of arranging letters and words to make them look visually appealing. I dabble in typography myself - generally of the hand-drawn variety- however, most of all I'm an avid collector of beautiful prints. I also love a goddamn good quote and it's quite often that you'll find quotes on Pinterest complemented by some beautiful lettering. So, be prepared, here are a number of my favourite pieces!
This beautiful and ornate hand-inked "A" is one of my absolute favourites. So detailed and so intricate. Now to find the "C" version!

Everybody wants to change the world...I love this 'paintbrush in ink' effect here and the alternative sizing of the words!

Happiness! At first glance this piece actually looks fun! I think my favourite parts of this are the dots above the "should".

Adventure & Monotony. The reason that I love this piece is the fact that the doodles around it represent what the quote says. I like how the type also reflects this with the "monotony" in a simplistic font.

Tea & Crumpets. I'm a sucker for ampersands (these little guys &&&) so this one is self explanatory. I also really like the arrangement of the "tea".

Very nice! I love how this bold piece all fits together seamlessly!

Stay Awesome! This cursive script is something that I'm always drawn to and the simple swirls and dots add to the piece making it look detailed, yet not overcrowded!

So far, so good! I love how the design blends into the font!

Anything at all. This one is so simple, with a very simple type yet, it's reallllly eyecatching! I think the white font on the black background helps with this!

Disney. My favourite part here? The "impossible".

Little Miss Muffet! I love this because it's so busy, but it works so well. It represents the rhyme that is written and I think that adds a little something extra!
You may have noticed that my preference is black and white - it's just something that always draws me in. I think it looks clean and fresh and it goes with everything. I'm not opposed to colour but they're a few of my favourites!
If you fancy sinking your teeth into more you should have a browse of my typography board on Pinterest - it's called 'Letterbomb.'.
Hope you enjoyed this somewhat random post! Thanks again for reading (and this time, looking!).
