Makeup of the Day ♥ || September 2014

Today I had a day off college (woohoo!) and after lazing around all morning I decided to shower (of course) and then play with my makeup!

The base I used in this look would be my general day to day makeup base, however, I did do a more dramatic eye than I would normally wear to college or work. Because of the dramatic eyes I went for a nude lip. Here are the products I used ☺

I always apply a primer before I put on my makeup. It really does help your makeup to last all day. My favourite primer is Benefit's POREfessional  primer. It's excellent - completely minimizes your pores and makes your skin smooth and ready for make up application. It smells lovely and lasts ages too! However for my day to day makeup I generally wear Fix&Perfect Pro by Rimmel. It makes my makeup last all day and doesn't break the bank.

My next step is to take my Catrice Light Reflecting concealer (bought this in Primark/Penneys for around €2.50) and blend it on my under-eye circles and any blemishes I have using a soft foundation brush from Oriflame.

My next step is to apply my base, and for everyday wear I use Garnier Miracle Skin BB cream in Medium. This product is oil free and gives a great coverage without feeling too heavy on your face. I apply my BB cream using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - all of you need this in your makeup bag!

After I blend and buff my base for what feels like ages I start to highlight and contour. For highlighting I use my Benefit High Beam highlighter and for contouring I just use my Rimmel Natural Bronzer.

Next up - POWDER! I use Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent to set my makeup in place and I use the Flawless by Sonya Powder Brush from Forever Living to apply it

My favourite part of doing my makeup is the eyes! Today I used the Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay. All over my lids I applied 'Bootycall'. I then blended 'Snakebite' in the socket of my eye and I finished with 'Busted' blended into the crease. I didn't use the brush from the Naked palette itself. Instead I opted for the Eyeshadow and Crease Brush from Flawless by Sonya from Forever Living Products. I also used the flat ended brush from the Naked palette to line my eyes with 'Busted' for some extra definition ♥.

The one part of my makeup routine that I HAVE to do is my eyebrows. They completely change the shape of your face and for me it's a must-do! I always use my Benefit Brow Zing Eyebrow Kit to fill in my eyebrows. I use the angled brush from Flawless by Sonya (again, I know - but the brushes are great!) to define the eyebrows and fill in any gaps. I rarely use the wax part of the Brow Zing kit and I tend to just stick to the powder. I use the colour medium.

I then apply my mascara. Today I used two Rimmel mascaras. Firstly I applied Scandal Eyes Show Off Mascara in Black. I just bought this recently, and I'm not loving it. It doesn't seem to give my lashes length or volume - two of the things I want from my mascara. I also find that it bleeds from your lashes under your eye. Because it didn't make my lashes long and full today I then went over this with Rimmel's Scandal Eyes Rockin' Curves mascara in black. This is amazing. It does exactly what I want and I have had it since April!

Finally, I applied a slick of Rimmel's Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick from the Kate Moss collection and I used the colour 003. I adore this colour. It's a nude lipstick but it lasts a long time, is pigmented enough for a nude shade and smells gorgeous (strange I know)!

That's everything that I used to create today's makeup look!

Have you used any of these products yourself? Tell me what you think in the comments!

Love,

Clare
